Every flower in the print traces back to the 12 Months of Flowers, a series of hand colored engravings from the 1700s by Henry Fletcher, originally commissioned by the celebrated English gardener Robert Furber. For this piece, Market of Stars pulled specifically from September through December, layering sunflowers, asters, yarrow, and other late blooming treasures into a single, painterly, glowing garden.
